Trish Rechichi is the fifth of eight children born to her immigrant Italian parents on their Bindoon farm, ninety kilometres north of Perth. Her early life in the boom time seventies is in sharp contrast to that of most of her school mates. Running barefoot around the family farm, which has neither electricity nor running hot water, hers is a working childhood.
Like many second-generation migrants, Trish is determined to transcend the cycle of necessity that ties her parents to the land. Heading a household of younger siblings, working two jobs and studying at night while still in her teens, she lets nothing keep her from exceeding her goals - not even her love of dancing. She makes her place in the corporate world, where she rises swiftly until a meeting with her European roots makes her re-evaluate her goals and turn to more fully embrace community values - in her neighbourhood, at work and in the community at large.
Same Dance Different Tune is the story of Trish Rechichi and the two remarkable people that are her parents.
